Choice one: the leather, eight ways

Bordeaux, Obsidian, Midnight, Ochre, Moss, Mocha, Rose, Lacy. Premium leather, stitched by hand, designed in Los Angeles.

This is the decision that sticks, so it is worth a minute. The darker ones stay tidy, the lighter ones show their history sooner.

Younger hands open a worn navy Momento with an old 'Mom's Apple Cake' recipe card tucked inside the cover.

Choice two: Pocket or Classic

Pocket is about 4 by 7 inches, the size that actually leaves the house in a coat or a bag. Classic is the desk size, with room for longer entries.

Some people end up with both, running the Pocket for out and the Classic for home.

An open navy Momento on a quilted bedspread with three lines, 'Ava was born today. 7 lbs 2 oz. I cried in the parking lot.', and a burgundy fountain pen.

Choice three: the charm

A small charm clips to the cover. Around twenty live on the site and the list changes: a lucky star, a turtle, a love letter, a tomato vine, a sleeping cat.

It is the part people comment on, and the part you can swap in ten seconds when you feel like it.

An older hand holds a faded 1970s beach snapshot (figures from behind) over an open brown Momento; the page asks 'What did you dream about, Mom?'

Choice four: what goes inside

Lined, blank, planner, organizer. The cover holds up to three inserts at once on its cords.

Most people run two: one for writing and one for everything else. The mix is easy to change when your year changes.

An open brown Momento on a white bed sheet: two short lines 'Back again. It has been a while.', the rest blank and undated, a pen across the page.

Why we do not engrave

No monogram or initials. They date, they make the journal awkward to pass on, and they cannot be undone.

Everything in a custom build here can be changed later, which we think is a better definition of custom than a name pressed into a cover once.

A hand holds a closed, well-worn brown Momento by a window; leather grain, elastic cord and round tab in raking light.

It arrives built

The cover you picked, two 76 page inserts, one lined and one blank, the organizer insert, and a linen travel bag.

Refills start at $12 when the paper runs out, which for most people is a few months per insert.

A journal and inserts spill from an open black shoulder bag on the pavement.

And 100 days to change your mind

Easy 100-day returns. Colors look different in your hands than on a screen, and three months is enough to know.

The lifetime warranty covers the binding, the cover and the hardware.

Frequently asked questions

What does my Momento come with?

The complete starter kit. Your leather cover in the size and color you pick, two 76-page Daolin inserts (one lined, one blank), an organizer insert for cards, stamps, photos, or loose notes, and a linen travel bag. Restock Event adds a complimentary charm. Everything you need to start writing on day one.

What can I actually customize?

The leather from eight colors, the size, the charm on the cover, and which inserts go inside.

Four choices, about a minute, and every one of them reversible later.

Can I add my name or initials?

No. We do not engrave or monogram, deliberately. A name dates the journal, makes it hard to pass on, and cannot be removed.

A charm does the same job of making it yours and comes off whenever you like.

Which size should I build?

Pocket is about 4 by 7 inches and leaves the house. Classic is the desk size, for longer entries.

People who write on trains pick one. People who write at a kitchen table at 10pm pick the other.

Which inserts should I choose?

Lined for writing, blank for drawing and sticking things in, planner if your days run on paper, organizer for cards and receipts.

The cover holds up to three at once, so most people run two and change the mix as the year does.

Is there an extra charge for customizing?

The color, size and insert mix are part of choosing the journal, not an add on. Charms are priced separately because they are a physical piece of hardware.

Free US shipping either way.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

Binding failure, cover failure, and hardware like the grommets. If something structural breaks, we replace it for free immediately, no shipping fee.

What if I pick the wrong color?

Colors look different in your hands than on a screen, so easy 100-day returns exist for exactly this.

Carry it for a few months first. That is the only real test.

What if I don't love it?

Try Momento for 100 days. If you don't fall in love, easy 100-day returns. Just email help@stillarchive.com and we'll take care of it.
