Your hand already knows how
Maybe it happened at the pharmacy counter, or signing a birthday card. You picked up a pen to write more than your name, and your own handwriting looked a little unfamiliar, like it belonged to someone out of practice.
For years you wrote everything down. The grocery list on the back of an envelope. Birthdays in the address book. Letters on thin paper, folded to fit the envelope. A diary in the nightstand drawer.
None of that went anywhere. You are not learning something new. You are picking up something you put down.
