A shoebox of playbills going back to 1961
You're helping your grandmother pack up her apartment for the move to a smaller place, and in the hall closet there's a shoebox of playbills from the little theater on Fifth Street. Every one has a line in pencil inside the front cover: who she went with, and her verdict.
"Too long." "Marjorie was robbed." And then 1974: "Went with Walt. He slept through act two. Still counts." Walt is your grandpa. Sixty-three years married, and the whole marriage is right there in pencil.
