Ten minutes on the roof at 4 a.m.
Priya works nights in the ER. At 4 a.m., when the floor goes still for a moment, she goes up to the hospital roof, sits on the edge with the city lit up below her and opens her journal on her knee. For ten minutes, nobody is calling her name.
She doesn't write about the shift. She writes what she wants for breakfast. What the sky is doing. Something she'd never say out loud in the break room.
